Training Programs :: The Magnificent Mile® Chicago Women's Half Marathon Training
The Official Magnificent Mile® Chicago Women's Half Marathon — September 6th
Experience a new perspective of Michigan Avenue—one of the most prestigious streets in America—when you run The Magnificent Mile Chicago Women's Half Marathon and 5K this August. CES has created a fantastic 12-week program to prepare you for the race on September 6th, no matter your level of experience. Our experienced coaches will determine the best training program for you and guide you every step of the journey.
The CES Magnificent Mile® Chicago Women's Half Marathon Training Program includes two coached workouts every week focusing on building endurance and improving form and speed to get the optimum results from your training and reach your race-day goals!
Registration is limited to assure the quality of the program. Don't delay! This program will sell out quickly, so sign up now to reserve your spot.
Finish your preparation for your effort in style with a fully supported group long run produced by the team that produces such wonderful events as the Ravenswood 5k, Soldier Field 10 Mile and more for Fleet Feet Sports. Take advantage of the assistance of pacers, refuel and reenergize at the aid stations stocked with water and Gatorade every few miles, enjoy the support and motivation of the CES coaches and relax after this "dress rehearsal" for your effort with post-run stretching and massage from Athletico and food and beverages to replace the calories you burned off.
Make your experience running down Michigan Avenue all the more magnificent at the CES Race Day Resort! The Resort will provide fantastic amenities worthy of million dollar shopping spree. Avoid the crush with optional race day bib and packet pick up. Take advantage of your own private gear check and restrooms. Fuel up for your event with Gatorade and water. Then celebrate your effort and achievement with your CES teammates and enjoy refreshments and food — and not having to wait in long lines — or relax with an invigorating post race massage from Athletico. Be all the more magnificent and train with CES!
Multiple Locations to Choose From!
The Magnificent Mile® Chicago Women's Half Marathon Training program will now be available at FOUR Chicago-area Fleet Feet Sports stores! This gives us a location to start the workout, a secure place for your personal gear, and a place to meet with your training companions and have coffee or breakfast after the long runs. Pick the location that works for you. If you can't make it to your regular location, you can join a group at another location. If you can't make it to any of our group locations, or prefer to train on your own, our Virtual Training option is perfect for you.

The half-marathon is a daunting challenge that should not be taken lightly, like a building that requires a solid foundation to stand, so too does the half-marathon need a solid base of mileage and fitness before the training program commences to achieve the level of success you desire. It is CES' goal that you have a successful training program and the best chance at attaining your goals and avoid injuries. CES has created a four week base training schedule that will help establish a solid base of mileage in preparation for the formal marathon training program.

For a little more detail on what happens at those sessions, read on…
Tuesday/Wednesdays/Thursdays — 6:30pm at Fleet Feet Sports (we'll meet at the store, then head out for our run)
These mid-week runs will focus on form, strength and speed. Our coaching staff will help teach, challenge and provide motivation.
Saturdays/Sundays — 7:00am at Fleet Feet Sports (we'll meet at the store, then head out for the run)
These workouts are reserved for long, slow distance runs important to the success of endurance runners. Pace Leaders are available to guide you at the appropriate pace. Our coaches run with you to motivate and answer any concerns or questions that arise.
BONUS: Restrooms, changing rooms, secure gear storage and water are available at all group training sessions.
Do you live too far away and can't make it to the group workouts? Can't make it to any of the Group training sessions because of conflicts?
Solve this problem with our Virtual Training option and you'll receive daily training schedules and coaching support online (via Training Peaks), access to race day amenities, as well as the weekly email newsletter with coaching tips, race updates and more. The virtual program is a great way to train on your own with virtual support from a helpful team of coaches.
We all need a little help from our friends. We need motivation to start and encouragement to keep it going and support that says we are doing a good job. The CES Pacers and Mentors are the best in the business in keeping a consistent training pace, showing path etiquette and keeping us safe on the popular Chicagoland running paths.
Note: If you are interested in becoming a pacer, or know of someone who might be interested, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
