Half Ironman Triathlon TrainingNew for 2008 — pick from two, GREAT races, and we'll get you ready for either one.Spirit of Racine Half - Ready for an amazing weekend of world-class triathlon racing? The swim portion takes place along Lake Michigan's pristine lakefront, followed by a bike ride on the Bike Course thru the scenic countryside of Racine County and finishes with a run on the Run Course through Racine's quaint, historic neighborhoods. With its beautiful scenery, spirited people, and resplendent culture the Spirit of Racine presents an exciting triathlon for first timers and seasoned veteran competitors. The Whirlpool Steelhead 70.3 Triathlon is a qualifying race for the 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Championship Triathlon in Clearwater, Florida. 75 slots will be awarded to the top finishers for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. The Whirlpool Steelhead 70.3 Triathlon will be the only race in the Great Lakes region that will award slots to the Ironman 70.3 World Championship. We have created a custom, 12-14 week program that will prepare you for either race, no matter what your experience level is. Is this your first half distance triathlon? Kickoff MeetingJoin us at our Informational Kickoff Meeting, 9:00am Sunday, April 13th — Hosted at Fleet Feet Sports, Piper's Alley. Meet our coaches, sponsors, ask questions (and get answers!) and have fun with a free raffle and giveaways. Registration will be available (cash & check only, please) after the meeting. And don't worry — we won't make you run... yet! Just dress casually and bring a great attitude! Registration / Packet Pickup — 8:00–8:45am and after meeting If you have pre-registered, you may pick up your training packet (includes schedule, technical shirt, and goodies from our sponsors!) prior to or after the meeting. If you haven't registered, you may do so prior to or after the meeting as well (unless the program has sold out). This program will likely sell out prior to the Kick Off Meeting. Additional Packet Pickup / Registration DatesIn order to make the registration process less hectic and more convenient for you, we will be offering ONE additional Packet Pickup date. You will be able to pick up your training schedule, technical training shirt, and more! To make the process even smoother, we highly encourage you to register online in advance. This allows our coaches to evaluate your current fitness level and goals and have your suggested training schedule waiting for you when you arrive. *Guaranteed race entries are available at an additional cost and are NOT included in the price of the training program. Training Days & LocationsGroup training sessions are held every Thursday & Saturday, beginning with our first session on Saturday, April 26, 2008. For a little more detail on what happens at those sessions, read on... Thursdays — 6:30pmThese days will alternate between running & swimming workouts. Biking along the lakefront at night just didn't seem like a smart thing to do! The focus of these mid-week workouts will be on technique, strength & speed. Our coaching staff will be on hand to help teach, challenge and motivate you! Saturdays — 7:00amWe will have many different activities that take place on our weekend sessions. Some weeks we will work exclusively on biking. Other weeks we will combine bike & run together. And several times, we will put all three sports together so you can practice the unique challenges of triathlon. Our coaches will also train along with you to motivate you and help with any concerns or questions that come up along the way. Where will we meet? Suggested Minimum Fitness LevelThe Half Iron distance triathlon is a challenging event. To make sure this is the right program for you, we have established some minimum fitness requirements for participation. In addition to having completed a minimum of one or more Olympic Distance Triathlons in the last year, all participants should be comfortably able to complete the following prior to the start of the program:

*Limited to maximum of 50 participants. *Please note: Your entry fee to the Spirit of Racine Half or Whirlpool Steelhead Triathlon is not included with this program! In the event that the Whirlpool Steelhead race sells out, CES has 25 reserved entries that will be available to our registered participants. These reserved entries will be distributed on a first come, first served basis and the cost of the reserved entry will be the responsibility of the participant. No refunds will be provided in full or in part for any reason, including injury, after a program begins. No prorated fees are provided for late enrollments.
